Silvador Live Carbon: Real-Time Forest Carbon Monitoring and Digital MRV in Romania
Sep 5, 2026

Silvador has switched on Live Carbon — a real-time forest carbon monitoring system that measures how much CO₂ our Romanian beech forest absorbs, hour by hour, and publishes every number to a public dashboard. Since March 2026, eleven IoT sensors mounted on masts above and below the canopy have streamed a fresh reading roughly every eleven minutes, turning one hectare of forest into a continuously measured carbon asset.
Most forest carbon projects report once a year, from models, samples, and paperwork. Live Carbon is our answer to the carbon market’s biggest question — can you prove it? With continuous digital MRV (measurement, reporting and verification), carbon credit buyers, investors, and rating agencies no longer wait for an annual report: the forest reports itself, and the raw data is open. The masts and instruments pictured below are that idea made physical.
Industrial-Grade Sensor Network : Four Milesight EM500 CO₂ sensors at different canopy heights, three soil moisture and temperature probes, plus light (PAR), rain, and wind stations — eleven LoRaWAN devices on a solar-powered gateway, delivering around 3,000 readings a day from the forest floor to above the crowns.
A Calibrated Carbon Flux Algorithm : Every hour, a light-use-efficiency photosynthesis model — with Beer–Lambert canopy light extinction and respiration split into above-ground and soil components — converts raw sensor data into net CO₂ absorbed or emitted. The model is calibrated against a full season of measurements: more than 176,000 readings in the first six months.
Radical Transparency by Design : Every hour is published live, including the hours when the forest emits more than it absorbs. The algorithm’s constants and full changelog are open on the dashboard’s Transparency page — auditable by anyone, from carbon credit buyers to independent verifiers.
Built for Carbon Market Integrity : Live Carbon complements the independent verification of our VCS-certified forest carbon project with something the market rarely gets: continuous, sensor-based evidence. It is the same philosophy as our open Data Room — verify, don’t trust.

Silvador Live Carbon is the newest layer of our trust stack: high-integrity forest carbon you can watch being measured in real time, not just read about in an annual report. Open the live dashboard and watch the forest breathe.
